On Tuesday Sept. 28, 2010 W.G. Pearson Cafeteria was turned into a Democratic rally.
N.C. Central University's streets were closed for Ronald "Ron" Kirk the United States Trade Representative and David Price N.C. Congressman high profile political figures and the cafeteria crammed with the voices of hundreds of middle, high school and college students in anticipation of President Obama's address in Madison, Wisconsin.
Sponsored by the College Democrats and the Student African American Brotherhood, the event was held to get students to the polls on Nov. 2. The event had over 300 people making NCCU's watch party ranked in the top five nationally.
"I hope the speech motivated the student base", said Alexander Scott, President of College Democrats. "We can make a difference at the polls."
Obama highlighted policy changes on the table and how if allowed to pass they could affect students
By the end of Obama's speech the students were fired up and ready to go. Chancellor Charlie Nelms encouraged students to vote regardless of party affiliations.
