The annual Spring Dance Group Performance and N.C. Central University's Dance Group brought along elegance, poise and spunk to Leroy T. Walker Complex's Dance Studio Sunday, April 10.

Special guest performances were given by the Monument of Faith Dance Ministry, and special guests Gregory Hinton, Miriam Gattis, and Siarah Stanfield.

Opening on a light note, the ladies swayed gracefully to "Give Myself Away" by William McDowell.

This was followed by a performance by the ladies of Monument of Faith Dance Ministry, who moved their tail feathers to the gospel song "He Wants It All," by Forever Jones.

Other performances featured such Top 40 hits as "OMG" by Usher, "Pretty Girl Rock" by Keri Hilson and "Diva" by Beyoncé, which involved some popping and locking.

Michael Jackson's "Dirty Diana" got an electrifying routine that seemed to follow moves from "Michael Jackson's The Experience" game.

Guest dancer Siarah Stanfield performed a solo to Oona's "Tore My Heart."

And Gregory Hinton gave a very intense performance to Stevie Wonder's "They Won't Go When I Go" in a requiem to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The program closed with a graceful performance of Fantasia's "I'm Doing Me," which showcased each dancer's special light.

The Spring Dance Program was performed in memory of the U.S. Military and gospel singer and civil rights activist Mavis Staples.

The NCCU Dance Group is advised by Nancy D. Pinckney. Its assistant artistic director is Dorinda Thomas.
