Candidates spread a spirit of Eagle pride at Monday debate in B.N. Duke Auditorium. Instead of insults going back and forth, most of the emphasis was placed on school morale.
Students constantly heard the phrase "N.C. Central University is the number one HBCU in the nation."
Nominees are vying for freshman class president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and Mr. and Ms. Freshman.
Other candidates are running for sophomore secretary, junior class secretary, senior vice president and Mr. Senior.
Many candidates placed an emphasis on increasing school morale, dressing for success, mentoring and building relationships among other Eagles.
A movie night was proposed as well as other social events to encourage students to build those relationships. Nominees promised to create programs to make staying on campus on the weekends more enjoyable.
"We are so quick to announce our area code and less quick to proclaim we are Eagles," said Bethany
Another issue that many candidates brought up was the need for students to dress more professionally on campus.
"You cannot climb the ladder of success dressed like a failure," said Tevon Banks candidate for Mr. Freshman.
