Senior outside hitter Shantel Moore spikes on two Aggie defenders

Make it or break it. That is the outlook senior Emanuelle Santos and the rest of the Lady Eagles plan on taking the rest of the season.

N.C. Central University women's volleyball team were able to pickup their first win of the season against  rivals the Lady Aggies of N.C. A&T.

The Lady Aggies were no match for the Lady Eagles who dominated, winning in straight sets 3-0 (14-25, 17-25, 15-25).

"I feel great about our win, it's very deserving. We had quite a few of our players that have stepped up and played well," said head coach Georgette Crawford-Crooks.

Santos led the team with 12 kills and 7 digs while senior Shantel Moore added with 11 kills.

"Emanuelle Santos did an excellent job if you look at the stats you will see where she was in the .700's with her hitting percent and having 15 attempts and 12 kills in one error, I mean she really did a very good job for us and Shantel Moore also did a very good job as well," said Crooks.

Sophomore, Jzima-Malaki Kalao who helped with 26 assists also agrees that Santos's play was spectacular saying that if they had to choose an MVP that Santos would definitely be a candidate.

"She came out hard and did what she was supposed to and she did a very good job as an outside hitter," said Kalao.

Crooks, also went on to say how excited she was about their win and how their first game played in the MEAC against their rivals definitely made their first win a great one.

Santos and Jzima-Malaki Kalao were very excited about their win as well and both are looking forward to playing in the MEAC.

"The goal for the year is to win the MEAC and we will fight for that," said Kalao. The Lady Eagles will play again, Tuesday Sept. 27, at McLendon-McDougald Gymnasium, against Radford University.
