For 20 years Welcome Baby has been in the business of creating happy families. Located at 721 Foster st. in Durham NC and funded by Durham's Partnership for Children, Welcome Baby has a number of programs including a car seat safety program and a free clothing closet. Welcome Baby also helps individuals link to outside community resources.

But the focus of Welcome Baby is its parenting education programs that focus on parenting from before birth to 5 years old. These include sessions such as "The Incredible Years," a program that helps parents interact positively with their young children, the "Circle of Parents," a place where parents can exchange ideas and concerns.

According to the Welcome Baby's Web page, "Positive Discipline,"  with its eight sessions, "helps with long-term parenting skills that will encourage their children to think for themselves, become more responsible and have greater respect for themselves or others. The workshop series is based on the book. Positive Discipline, by Jane Nelsen and filled with non-punitive, respectful methods that will incorporate kindness and firmness into parenting and bring more joy into the home."
